The iconic street circuit has been the setting for some thrilling duels between F1’s greats down the years. The 1982 race produced an incredible finish as Alain Prost and Riccardo Patrese raced for the chequered flag in wet conditions. Prost was also amongst the frontrunners at the 1984 race, this time being ruthlessly hunted down by a young Ayrton Senna.
And there was yet more drama at the 1996 Grand Prix, which featured an unprecedented number of retirements, leaving Olivier Panis and David Coulthard battling for the win.
